Specialist in human resources and
business improvement issues
While working for Emerson Electric as a Consumer Product Safety Commission Liaison—the longest job title I’ve ever had—I was impressed by the need for successful business communications. I added a master’s degree in business to my two degrees in education and moved into Human Resources where I held jobs from benefits specialist to HR Director. In 1986, I was hired by an actuarial and benefits consulting firm. In 1990 I was made national practice leader for the communications group and four years later I started the firm’s first HR compliance consulting group. I left that job in 1996 to work freelance. More information, a client list and references are on my LinkedIn profile page.
My work ranges from writing and editing documents to extensive projects like corrective-action coaching, anti-sexual harassment training and employee survey preparation and follow-up. I can devise quick responses and long-range strategies using all kinds of media.
I enjoy communications so much that I look for ways to apply those skills in other areas. After returning to St. Louis from Philadelphia, I met a friend who wanted to produce independent, historical documentaries. That’s how I got to be the associate producer on two Emmy-award winning documentaries. At any time, you can find me considering or involved in similar, imaginative projects.
